Kalasatama Urban Lab

Kalasatama Urban Lab

The entire district of Kalasatama is a laboratory for new solutions piloted in Helsinki, and the Kalasatama Urban Lab space located in REDI shopping centre offers a place for stakeholders’ events and networking.

Kalasatama Urban Lab is a cosy co-creation space where the developers and residents of the district can organise meetings, workshops and events. The space can be requested for meetings or events promoting smart and climate-friendly life and the development of Kalasatama or the entire Helsinki.

Kalasatama Urban Lab showcases both agile pilots implemented in Kalasatama and the infrastructure supporting smart solutions and climate neutrality as well as smart living innovations built on top of it. The space has been widely used as a showroom of smart city development in Helsinki for both national and international visitors and media.

Kalasatama Urban Lab is an arena for smart events

The space accommodates 15–30 persons for meetings and workshops, and up to events for 60 persons. It is equipped with large whiteboards, workshop supplies and furniture that can be moved to fit the needs of different types of events. Event organisers can also make use of the Lab’s kitchen as well as the 65“ presentation screen and sound system.

Kalasatama Urban Lab is an independently used “super flexi-space” equipped with a smart lock. The space has been used for researching additional services and new solutions related to utilisation and motoring of shared spaces. Each event organiser is responsible for leaving the space in a good condition for the next user.
